Marstan Press, the Kent based print services provider is pleased to announce further investments in the digital print department. Following on from the Konica digital press purchase in March 2012, the company has now added a Duplo DuBinder perfect binding machine and a Duplo Digital System 5000 Pro stitching machine.

The new machines will sit alongside the existing Watkiss and Morgana equipment that service Marstan’s current fleet of digital presses including machines from Xerox, Konica and Oce. The company opted for the Duplo machines due to their robust build quality and the excellent support that Duplo offer. Managing director Martin Lett Snr said, “When walking around the Duplo head quarters it was clear that they had the infrastructure to offer first class technical support, whilst their machines are clearly very well made. On the technical side I am delighted with the stitching line as it so simple to set up and utilises a litho-machine quality sheet feed, which ensures that the machine runs well even with digitally printed work which is known for its static and slipperiness.”

When questioned on why additional machines were needed, director Martin Lett Jnr explained, “With our ever increasing workload, and our client’s demands for 24hr and same-day turnarounds, we required more heavy duty machines that would give us greater capacity and faster running speeds so we can meet customer’s expectations.”

 

The 57 year old family owned company is now targeting short run booklet work and offers same day delivery when required. Marstan expects digital print turnover to reach £1 million this year and hope to be able to create a new role within the department in the coming months.
